Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Bluefields is offering you the opportunity go out to the ballgame. On June 18th we will be taking over seats at Greer stadium for a night of fun at the ball park. Our Nashville Sounds will be facing off against the Oklahoma City RedHawks. When was the last time you ate a ball park dog and listened to the crack of the wooden bats, watching in the delight on your kid's face as the players took the field? Not to mention, Friday night games mean fireworks after the game!

Email me if you want to make plans to join the Bluefields gang. Tickets are only $12 dollars in advance. Bluefields can reserve a section for up to 20 people. A couple of years ago I and many others watched Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks come up through the Sounds/Brewer's organization. Who will be the next super stars coming through Nashville? Come to the Bluefields outing so you can say, "I remember when...." while enjoying some comaraderie with some of your neighbors. - Andrew Bradley, BHA President.

Don’t Forget! Bluefields 2010 Summer Picnic!

It is that time of year again! On June 12th BHA will once again hold its annual neighborhood picnic in the spacious backyard of 2721 Overhill Drive. The event will begin at 5:30PM and end approximately at 8:30PM. Bring your blankets and chairs and share in the burgers, hotdogs and great times. Remember, this is a free event to the neighborhood, BHA member or not. This is a wonderful way to say hello to neighbors both new and old. A celebration of summer. See you there!

Flood Update

We hope Bluefields families are well on their way to recovery from the recent flooding. We wanted to share with you that our local Donelson Hermitage Chamber recognizes the impact to our local area and, in response, has created The Gateway for Recovery, a taskforce assigned to cooperate with and assist in the ongoing communications and area donations specifically geared toward Donelson and Hermitage. We are so proud of our businesses and neighbors who have pulled together in these hard times. Should you have outstanding needs in which you require additional support or area assistance, please contact a member of the BHA Board and we will
see how we too may be able to assist in your Bluefields recovery efforts.

Drawing the Wrong Kind of Attention - Graffiti

With the warm weather and school drawing to a close it is not surprising that the number of persons out and about have increased as everyone wipes off their winter doldrums and enjoys spending some much needed time outside. And what a better neighborhood to get out in, Bluefields!

On April 14th it was reported that some graffiti had been placed on a post sign at the corner of Bluefield Avenue and Cumberland Circle sometime that previous Saturday evening. ‘Tagged’ as it were. Not unlike the sightings reported the previous calendar year during this same time of year, graffiti incidents have previously been reported along the railway side of Bluefields on the bridge overpass as well as a rear side of a storage house on a residents’ personal property on that same rail side of Bluefield Avenue. The graffiti they believe is in fact gang related as many would suspect.

Not that we should necessarily be alarmed, however, we all should keep an eye out for suspicious activity. In the event that you notice any unusual persons or witness an act of vandalism of any kind, immediately report such incidents to the Metro police department at 862-8600 and also notify one of our BHA Board members so that we can get the word out to fellow neighbors. Together we will continue to keep our neighborhood a safe and clean place to live. *see insert details on National Night Out

THANK YOU!

BHA would like to thank the many homeowners that took the time to paint, plant, mulch and pick up trash on Saturday, April 10th.

With the yearly donation from Metro Public Works Beautifica-tion Department for the gloves, trash bags, waters and apparel as well as the use of BHA member do-nations for mulch and paint supplies, we were able to once again give Bluefields it’s an-nual facelift. Nice work!
